Abstract
The aim of this graduate paper is the creation of an English dictionary with specialized terms derived from the books of American author George R.R. Martin, with the general title: “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
In the first chapter, a theoretical report is presented concerning the historical necessity in the creation of lexicons in addition with the terms that were used to define the content of the lexicons. Their typology, structure in hard-copy as well as the way in which a lexicon is designed, from the conception of its theme to its final presentation to the user, is also described. In the final part of the theoretical chapter, modern electronic and World Wide Web lexicons are mentioned.
In the second part of the paper, the aim of the creation of this English lexicon along with the material used and the method of its design are described. The lexicon itself is introduced and it consists of 299 words, registered in categories, on alphabetical order in each of the categories, the explanation of every word and its table of contents.
Since the material that was used for the creation of the lexicon originates from a vast literary work, the further enrichment of the lexicon with more words or categories or even the creation of an online version to the user is advised.
