Abstract
The concept of context is accumulating a continuous growing interest through the research community. Particularly, it is observed that major scientific sectors are utilizing the context information in means of relevant applications. These sectors, are Multimedia Analysis, Social Media analysis, analysis of user generated context information, mobile cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
The present thesis is an attempt to account the different expressions of context in the informatics field, through the presentation of its variations in which it can be shared. This effort is being presented in the first three chapters. In the sequel, based on the aforementioned categorization, a collection of recent research papers is being presented, relevant to the utilization of context information in the IT field. The multitude and the kind of the research papers is a choice that has been taken, aware of the classification of the papers per research field and the appropriateness of each approach to be compares with other efforts in the same research field.
In the next phase, in the fifth chapter, comparison matrices are being constructed in regard to the aforementioned research papers. The main target of the present effort is the evaluation of each paper according to others, in order to designate the offer to the research community with articulacy. Alongside, the thesis designates the weaknesses of each approach. In the fifth and the sixth chapter, the conclusions from the comparison are being presented, as well as some thoughts for future extensions of the present effort
