Abstract
This thesis deals with the translation of a specialized text in the field of Neurology and Radiology. In addition to the final translation and the original text, the translation process is analysed and devided into different stages, from the selection of the source-text to solving the translation problems that arose during the translation process. Particular emphasis is given to the analysis of the macro- and microstructure of the source-text, the ways medical terminology can be translated in the English-Greek language pair, and the problems encountered during the translation process and their solutions. The translation stages were largely based on the Functional Didactics of Translation (Λειτουργική Διδακτική της Μετάφρασης) (Kelandrias 2016) and Nord's Translating as a Purposeful Activity (1997/2001). The approach of medical terminology and the process of its rendering from English to Greek was based mostly on Terminological Issues in Technical Translation (Ζητήματα Ορολογίας στην Τεχνική Μετάφραση) by Keramidas (2015).
