Abstract
This dissertation focuses on the common elements deriving from the comparison between Japanese and Greek language concerning Onomatopoeia. The morphological typology in Japanese and Greek is different. Japanese is an agglunative language while Greek is a fusional language. Despite that, the conceptual frameworks under which onomatopoeia is used are common, including differences concerning, for example, the syntax. Onomatopoeia is a big part of Japanese language which is largely used in everyday life, in written and oral speech. In Greek, even though it is mainly used in oral speech with few exceptions in written language (such as comics), the use of it is not as limited as we think. Through this dissertation it can be seen that the two languages have more similarities than at first sight.
