Abstract
This paper is related to methods of evaluation of information systems. Identification and recording of these is necessary and helps us to better understand the information system itself. Beginning is a reference to several definitions, which give us a clearer picture of the concept of an information system. In order to make the evaluation properly, some concepts have been separated, which are linked to one another and can lead to ambiguities. For this reason, in the work, the term of evaluation and the term of monitoring are initially explained. An analysis of the types of evaluation that is based on specific criteria is then made. The criteria we analyzed are mainly qualitative and quantitative. A detailed description of the criteria with examples is given and a comprehensive picture is given on what each person means and what he describes. In addition, the paper describes the process by which the evaluation of information systems is carried out. In this important role, the business itself, its environment and the people working in it plays an important role. We look at the information system either as a unit or as part of the business. Then we look at how the environment affects its use, mentioning the problems that are being created and the challenges it has to deal with. These factors are many and can cause difficulties as well as many delays. An analysis of the DeLone & McLean models, the Technology Acceptance Model, the Unified Theoryof Acceptance and Use of Technology, theOrganizational Memory Information System, the Performance Scoreboard, the Performance Scorecard Model, and the Project Objectives Measurement Model and user satisfaction model are being analyzed. Each of them has its own characteristics and has different parameters for the evaluation of Information Systems. Also, each Model focuses on different criteria and responds to a different area of the Information System. Finally, in the last chapter, a description of the alternative methods of evaluation of Information Systems is made, while we examine a case study for the evaluation of an Information System at a restaurant. In this case study a detailed description of all the steps we follow for the monitoring, evaluation and the factors that affect its use is made.
