Abstract
In the era of a modern globalised society we all live and the rapid development of the Internet we all witness, the need for communication among different cultures and languages is growing more than ever. The websites of Higher Education Institutions in Greece aim not only to inform the current and future students, but also students who wish to study at a university abroad, making the best out of Programmes, such as ERASMUS by the European Union. Most of these websites have already been translated into English, however, there is a need for their content to be translated in more languages, especially in cases that Universities deal with fields in languages other than English. The purpose of this dissertation is the translation and localisation of the website of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting (DFLTI) of the Ionian University (IU) in Corfu, with special reference to the translation problems we dealt with, as well as the study of the Information Architecture of the given website.
