Abstract
As the American historian Howard Zinn has said, historically, the most terrible things - war, genocide, slavery – came up not from disobedience but from obedience. In addition, the study of International Law and Genocide in Rwanda confirms this saying.
The Criminal Tribunals for Rwanda and Yugoslavia have greatly contributed to the development and criminalization of International Law as an important branch of Law for humanity, because for the first time criminal cases are tried. In particular, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda's decisions completely changes the perspective of the crime substantiation.
In this thesis is taking place a study of International Law and International Humanitarian Law, the protection of individuals and peacekeeping operations in wartime situations. Next there is an effort to present the case of Genocide in Rwanda, infringements of Law and the ad hoc International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. The purpose of this dissertation is to study in depth the Genocide case in Rwanda and this could not be done without the extensive use of literature and studies by International Law experts such as Mrs. Marouda, Mr. Hatzikonstantinou and Mrs Naskos -Perraki.
