Abstract
This dissertation revolves around the interlingual subtitling from Greek to English of the short film Ιερά Πόλις (‘Sacred City’), for the D/deaf and the Hard-of-Hearing. The short film narrates the chronicle that led to the fateful fall of the Greek city of Messolonghi by the Ottoman armies in 1826. The writer/translator elaborates profoundly on his translating procedure, as well as the film itself. The paper concludes with an extensively detailed commentary, which delves into the various challenges and impediments the translator faced throughout his venture, and the methods he used to overcome them, while also providing significant information about the film’s structure, content, and historical background.
