Abstract
The fact that served as motivation for the selection of this particular thesis was the researcher's finding that there is a loss of cultural and linguistic richness with the educational models and immigration policies applied so far in the educational process at the European level in general and especially in the examined countries of Greece, France and Germany. It was specifically established that all efforts of the scientific society by dealing with the foreign language student potential in the host countries based on the existing European education policies have hitherto been useless and it has not been possible to make use of the whole or even part of the cultural baggage carried by the mother tongue of the refugee students in a way that is constructive for human culture. This is due to the different orientation of educational policies and education models over time.
The originality of this thesis lies in the pursuit of language preservation and the concept of saliency of the linguistic rights of foreign-speaking refugee and immigrant populations in host countries to avoid linguistic retreat and the oversimplified management of the languages of immigrant and refugee populations. The way of highlighting the languages of immigrant and refugee populations in non-linguistic environments with the aim of preserving linguistic cultural richness has not been fully investigated yet. However, the scientific community has often referred to the issue of the necessity of maintaining linguistic heterogeneity which is related to issues of linguistic richness and the uniqueness of the social and cultural dimension of each language.
The language rights of foreign-language migrant and refugee populations have become a major concern in today's globalised society as these people face language barriers in their host countries. The thesis deals with the role of translation/interpretation in the revival and preservation of the languages of refugee and immigrant populations in host countries. It attempts to highlight how translation and its interdisciplinary fields of activity highlight the language rights of non-native refugee and immigrant populations. The doctoral thesis concludes with a proposal of a new Pedagogical model for the integration of immigrant languages in the school, enriched with new pedagogical practices, which is the final purpose of this research.
