Abstract
An internship is a short-term work experience offered by companies and other organisations, usually to students, so that the latter can gain some initial work experience in a specific field or sector. It combines learning alongside experience and ideally interns work in an area relevant to their studies and interests learning about the field, making industry connections, and developing various skills, while in some cases it can even lead to full-time job offers. The purpose of this study is to describe the internship experience at Green Deals Private Capital Company, which is a private consultancy firm promoting sustainable and green development. Overall, the internship experience provided the intern with significant benefits, such as linking knowledge to practice, learning a new subject, getting in touch with the working environment of translators and developing an overall picture of the industry. The main problems encountered during the internship were the difficulty of the content of the texts to be translated, as they dealt with subjects that in some cases had never been translated into Greek before and the increased workload in order to complete the planned projects. Nevertheless, it was a quite important experience from which the trainee benefited in general, while in the future this institution should be better organised and there should be constant communication between the companies and the University.
