Abstract
The Ukraine-Russia war, which broke out on February 24, 2022, has sparked intense
international debate and corresponding media coverage. As a central point of concern for the global community, the conflict has attracted the attention of various countries,
each of which offers its own interpretation and analysis of the events. The present
research focuses on the coverage of the war by the Digital Press of Greece, initially
investigating the scope of prejudices and narratives in the depiction of Russian and
Ukrainian national identities. By analyzing official statements and actions taken in
response to the conflict, the alignment between the phrase "the right side of history" and
the government's foreign policy decisions is discernible. The critical assessment of the
way the two countries are presented and the attitude of the newspapers towards those who take a position in favor of one side or the other, identifies those characteristics
which aim at the political characterization and marginalization of each point of view.
Finally, through the analysis of the texts, the set of articles are connected with hate
speech and extreme expressions against the two conflicting forces and their
"supporters".
