Abstract
This research focuses on the life of Roma children in the school context through the perspective
of music teaching. Emphasis is placed on the role of music in the lives of Roma children, on the
impact of music in their everyday life, but also on the similarities or differences that exist
between local children and Roma children in terms of their living culture. The dissertation
follows a research approach with two parts, the theoretical and the practical. It is an educational
project with observation and interview as basic methodological tools for data collection. In
addition to the literature review, a practical intervention was carried out at a primary school of
Katerini in the integration class of Roma children. The educational project was carried out in the
integration class, and my data was gathered through observation and diaries of the teacher-
researcher . The results describe the relationship of music with Roma children in primary school
and shed light on some aspects of children's experience in the educational context, their
relationships with teachers and the whole student population of the school and their educational
needs, as revealed by this study.
