Abstract
The present dissertation consists of subtitling the short film Ninety Seconds which was directed by the director Kevin J. Mc Corry. In an era where access to films and series from around the world is available at the touch of a few buttons, the need for subtitling is increasingly growing. Its role is a critical element as it significantly affects the viewers' experience and perception. However, it is not limited to translating dialogue from one language to another.
The biggest challenge in the process of subtitling involves the spatiotemporal constraints. However, it is not the only one. In the present study, the cultural context and the genre of the film will be examined as well as the translation difficulties and the strategies employed during the translation into Greek, such as condensation, line breaks and timing of subtitles.
