Abstract
International conflicts often occur in bilateral or multilateral international relations
between states. The confrontational behavior of a group or community of humans stems
from the very nature of the human being, namely the cognitive ability, perceptive ability
and the need for the individual to follow the commands of the group in the context of
conformism.
The Greek-Turkish conflict is one of the predominantly classical rival twins in the field of
international relations. The tension follows the effort to improve bilateral relations and vice
versa. Τhe views differ in both countries regarding the historical starting point of the
conflict and different school thoughts have been developed on how to approach this issue.
Some analysts mark the beginning of the conflict in antiquity, while others strongly argue
that the Greek-Turkish conflict stems from the modern era.
The intercultural interaction of peoples contributes to the development of mutual trust,
prosperity and development between them. Overcoming prejudices, mutual suspicion and
strictly ethnocentric approaches may contribute for resolving long-term conflicts, such as
the Greek-Turkish conflict.
This dissertation will present the Greek-Turkish conflict in the light of intercultural
communication and the possibilities for possible resolution through the tools of
intercultural conflict resolution.
