Abstract
The subject of this thesis focuses on the development of a Web Player for playing songs, using
the API of a streaming platform. This application aims to provide a useful and enjoyable music
listening experience to users by providing access to a huge library of songs. By using the API,
songs are searched, retrieved and played according to the user's preferences.
The user has the ability to search for songs based on the artists, albums or genres of music they
are interested in. In addition, the app provides features such as the user being able to “like”
songs, providing a history of the last twenty songs that the user has listened to, and an indicator
that shows how much Spotify users are listening to each song during that period. Also, the user
can increase or decrease the volume, choose from which device to play and change the point
of the song.
Best practices for web application design and development have been considered while
developing the application. The interface is user-friendly and adapts to various devices, such
as desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets. The architecture of the application,
the technologies used for development (such as HTML, tailwind CSS and Next.js) and the
challenges that arose during development are also analyzed.
Overall, the work is a coherent and detailed study of the development of a web player
application that uses the API of a streaming platform to play songs.
