Abstract
This research examines the interaction between archaeology and national identity using Masada, an Israeli archaeological site, as a focal point. By tracing Masada's evolution from a historical site to a symbol of Israeli heritage, it explores the ways in which archaeology shapes and reinforces a people's national identity. In addition, the research presents the ways in which the Masada has been used as a symbol of Jewish resilience and connection to the land, analyzing its representation in the social fabric of Israel, both before and after its establishment. Finally, it examines the controversies and ethical considerations surrounding its excavation and presents some insights into the current state of the archaeological site.
