Abstract
This dissertation deals with the organization and operation of primary education units focusing on kindergartens. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the way in which Greek kindergartens operate and are organized. In order to carry out the work, a theoretical bibliographic review was carried out in Greek and foreign language sources. Access to these resources was achieved mainly via the internet, as at this stage libraries are not accessible. In addition, a research was carried out on the archival material of a kindergarten located in a village of N. Ilia. This is the kindergarten of N. Figalia that was chosen both for reasons of promotion of its primary material and for practical reasons, as access to its archive was easier than others. From this archival material conclusions are drawn regarding the subject of the work. The Archive of the kindergarten of N. Figalia covers the period 1971-2017. Contains 28 folders of documents and 7 books. The archival material was produced by the kindergarten to serve his service needs and is a written testimony of his actions. For the purposes of the work, all the archival material was studied and described, from which some of the books provided by the Ministry of Education are missing. From the processing of the archival material, information is obtained about the operation of the school unit and its history.
