Abstract
This literature review provides an opportunity for an in-depth critical analysis of the complex and multifaceted relationship between Human Resource Management (HRM) practices and high-performance work systems (HPWS), with a particular focus on their influence on organizational performance as well as employee well-being. The purpose of this study is to analyze, after gathering, the empirical research conducted over the past twenty years, to fully clarify this intricate relationship, which involves HRM practices, employee perceptions, and their impacts on stress levels and performance in the work environment. This work has been carried out through reliable, published sources such as articles, books, and even lectures, along with theoretical approaches examined by experts in the field and carefully selected based on the topic at hand. The central focus of this study is the critical role that employee perceptions play in linking the demands of their work environment to organizational outcomes, emphasizing the need to understand how employees perceive the expectations and requirements of the environment in which they work. Through this extensive analysis, as outlined below, the impact of HPWS on enhancing the overall effectiveness of organizations and improving employee well-being is highlighted. The study's findings provide valuable lessons for businesses aiming to strengthen the implementation of high-performance work systems and improve outcomes for both the company and its staff.
