Abstract
This doctoral dissertation centers on Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) training and examines the convergence and divergence between human translation and MTPE. The research is structured around theoretical framework, research methodology, and the synthesis of theoretical and practical findings. The theoretical component focuses on cognitive science and the MTPE process in comparison to human translation, revealing the requisite skills and cognitive processes. Furthermore, it examines the structure and emerging needs in professional translation environments through an analysis of training, evaluation, and the role of translators. The research methodology of this dissertation focuses on translators' role in MTPE and identifying the skills required for their training. It examines the cognitive, temporal, technical, and psychological demands of MTPE and proposes a compensation model for translators working in machine translation environments. The research culminates in proposing an MTPE training protocol that can significantly contribute to improving professional translators' performance and the acceptance of MTPE in contemporary professional and academic spheres.
