Abstract
In this dissertation, I present my experiences during my teaching practice as a music teacher at a special vocational training institute for students with autism (ages 14-16). My teaching practice lasted for six months from November 2023 until April 2024. I observed four lessons by the music teacher and took notes about the teaching and learning processes. I then taught fifteen lessons together with the music teacher. One class had four students and the other class had five students. The lessons were held in the music classroom which was designed as a circle and was fully equipped (both musically and technologically).The dissertation describes the teaching process and methods used. It also includes my self-reflection and personal suggestions for the improvement of the aforementioned methods and processes. The effect which music lessons has on children with autism has also been examined, with the aim to understand all the intricacies surrounding their functionality and social skills inside and outside a school environment. In conclusion,my internship was a significant and valuable experience for addressing challenges and gaining new knowledge and insights.
