Abstract
This doctoral thesis examines the evolution of the hymns and verses of Holy Week. Various melodic versions are studied, by era with specific composers named, and we reach the first printed versions of the 19th century. Regarding the analysis of the member of the hirmi, the following versions are examined: Byzantine, Koukouzelis, Theophanis Karykis, Ioasaf the new Koukouzelis, Chrysafis the new, German Metropolitan of New Patras, Balasios, Peter of Peloponnese, Peter of Byzantium, New Method. The analysis of the member of the verses concerns the following melodic versions: Byzantine, Chrysafis, Germanos, Petros Peloponnesios and New Method. All of the hymns are included in two separate Appendix Research has shown that the member changes with the seasons, since if one compares the different melodic variations, one can easily understand the differences.
