Abstract
This paper presents the results from a program for raising awareness about school bullying in secondary education. School bullying is the persistent attack of one person or a social group on another person. That is, the interaction between a dominant person (offender) and a less dominant one (victim) (Graig, Pepler, & Atlas, 2000). It is the scourge of our times that is rapidly affecting schools at any grade and it comes in many forms of violence, such as verbal, physical, psychological, social and online. In the implementation participated students on 9th grade of two schools, one class from a school in the city of Corfu and two more classes from a school in the countryside of Corfu. After school permission was obtained, the students wrote lyrics and through the free software “Soundtrap”, a D.A.W. program (Digital Audio Workstation), recorded their own original tracks about school bullying. After the given class periods, about four for each class, the children turned the classroom into a “recording studio” and they created their own EP (extended play), with a total duration of ten minutes. The EP includes a total of six tracks, of which three are the tracks created by the classes (one for each class) and the rest are "bloopers" that capture the children’s effort.
