Abstract
The paper consists of the translation and commentary of three speeches by political figures of the SPD, CDU and FDP during the 96th Session of the German Parliament (Bundestag), which took place on April 26th 1974. The speeches are part of the debate on the revision of paragraph 218 regarding abortion, an extremely important and controversial issue to this day, and were chosen to study the attitude and way of expression of the three dominant parties on the German political scene at the time.
