Abstract
This thesis discusses the experience of our shared six-month music teaching practice in two
different classes of a Primary school on an Ionian island. Our practice was centred around co
teaching and here we present our personal development, thoughts, challenges that we faced
and ways of dealing with them, as well as cooperation inside and outside the classroom.
Additionally, our dissertation focuses on the students’ progress in terms of their cooperation
and communication skills, as well as on the transformation of our relationship with them
through the development of team-working skills and feelings of security. These are reflected
on the diaries we kept during our observations and music teaching, as well as on the self
reflection section which our dissertation concludes with. Our self-reflection includes
thoughts, observations, concerns, revisions and ways of dealing with challenges during the
teaching learning process. The appendix lists the lesson plans, which we designed and
followed during our teaching, and include the aims of the lessons, the steps we followed, our
teaching methods and the ways we assessed our students and the lessons as a whole.
