Abstract
Areas of Rethymno and Sitia in Crete are given the opportunity to function as a place of memory, from the natural environment to the man-made and vice versa. Space is transformed into place through human experience and memory in dynamic intergenerational dialectical contexts. The interaction and dialogue of man with nature, wounds in nature and mental traumas, symbolism, allegories, and education from the individual to the collective level and vice versa. Field research with interviews, audio-visual recording, and feedback. A perpetual evolutionary process, a work in progress, as is man himself, art, and science. The text is accompanied by both visual and audio-visual materials that explore the dialogue between art and science in the light of corresponding anthropological field research and reflection. Searches between the City and the Countryside, Nature and Culture, Ethics and Memory and ultimately Responsibility.
