Abstract
The subject of this thesis is the modern forms of automation found in library environments and in particular the integration of robotics in their context. More specifically, information is provided on automation issues and how it is directly related to robotics, as well as examples of robot use in libraries in Europe, America and Asia. On the occasion of this crucial issue of the integration of robotics in libraries, a survey in the form of an on-line questionnaire was conducted in libraries all over Greece, in order to draw conclusions on their views, attitudes and perceptions towards the possibility of introducing such a technology in their area. 63 libraries of various categories from all over the country participated in the survey.
