Abstract
This thesis presents a thorough analysis of both historical and contemporary approaches to education, while examining the relationship between education, technology and neuroscience. Through the historical review, the way in which educational practices have changed over time becomes apparent. The potential of technology to improve education and the learning experience for teachers and learners is presented. The interdisciplinary discipline that contributes to the evolution of education and is studied in this thesis is neuroscience. It is a rapidly growing discipline that examines the brain activity of individuals. Through research conducted to understand the brain, a better understanding of learning processes is achieved. Specifically, neuroeducation research integrates the findings of neuroscience--regarding the functioning of the human brain--in order to promote effective learning performance. In order to establish the theoretical background, research was conducted that analyzes the brain state of students during learning processes. During the research, training activities were designed and implemented in order to evaluate the performance of neurolearning strategies in real learning conditions. Feature extraction for the EEG data was based on the PSD method. The results of the research provided useful insights into how the combination of neuroscience and technology has the potential to influence education in the future, making it more effective.
