Abstract
This paper deals with the term Augmented Reality and its use for visitors' browsing in modern museums. In our time, technology is an integral part of people's daily lives and this contributes to redefining the way visitors browse museums through the use of new technologies. Through the use of Augmented Reality museums are trying to keep up with the rapid technological progress. Their role is redefined as learning environments and visiting museums becomes an exciting experience for the public, which goes beyond simply looking at the exhibits and requires the active role of visitors to receive the information that interests them. The presentation of both the term augmented reality in comparison with other terms and various examples of the use of augmented reality are a key part of the work. In the last part of the work, an augmented reality application for a museum educational program is created and presented. In conclusion, the results of the work as well as its limitations are presented.
