Abstract
This thesis was carried out as part of the completion of my studies at the Department of Archives,l Library Science and Museology. It presents the basic principles of archival at a theoretical level and the physical arrangement of the archives carried out in the Greek Literary and Historical Archive of Thessaloniki (ELIA).
The purpose of the work was the processing, classification, archiving and description of the archive of the Mavridis and Mavrommatis family, in order to make the material accessible to researchers and anyone interested in looking for information about it in the present and in the future. Also indicate the importance of the files.
In the theoretical part of the work, the basic concepts of archival are presented. At the same time, archival work is analyzed at all stages, from the acquisition of the material to its storage and distribution to users. Reference is made to archival institutions in Greece, specifically the Greek Literary and Historical Archive as well as the Mavridis and Mavrommati families.
The practical part presents the stages of the management and organization of the archival material, the process and the tasks that were carried out until the storage of the material in the archives of the service.
