Abstract
The naked body is perceived in each era based on the values and the existing cultural system and context. In ancient Greece, although it was associated with "barbarians" and with the vulnerability and weakness of the individual, in some cases it was perfectly acceptable and desirable for men to appear without clothes. Such occasions were those of the various festive events and the games that accompanied them. Athletes appeared in them naked and took part in the games in this way. This practice has been interpreted in various ways. In general, it seems that the sight of the fit male body was synonymous with virtue and valor, concepts with absolutely positive connotations for the ancient Greeks.
