Abstract
This dissertation entitled Translation and Commentary on the "Presentation of the information report on European asylum reform" (2019), by Ludovic Mendes and Marietta Karamanli was prepared as part of my undergraduate studies at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting, Faculty of Humanities of the Ionian University during the academic year 2020-2021. This essay, which consists mainly of the translation of the information report of the French National Assembly, focuses on the right to asylum, a timeless issue of both European and Greek reality.
As far as the structure is concerned, at the beginning of the essay, there is the source text of about 4000 words, which I found on the official website of the French National Assembly. This text is followed by its translation as well as a 3000-word commentary. Finally, in this commentary, through the comparison of the source and the translated text, the problems I encountered during the translation process are presented, while the translation strategies I applied to solve them are also justified.
