Abstract
This book presents the struggles of those who fought for Greece in order to hand over to the new generations a homeland worthy of its culture and history. More specifically, the book presents an outlined history of the Navy, the account of naval operations during the Revolution, as well as some of the author's observations. This book was also written to fill in any gaps about Greek history. Moreover, it presents the evolutionary course of the Greek Navy and how it managed to go from an undisciplined unit full of skills to an organized unit with institutions and similar to the fleets that existed abroad.
The translation and the commentary for the excerpt refers to events of 1943-1944. The events concern the operations in the Dodecanese and the successes achieved by submarines and ships, such as the Adrias, the B. Olga, Pipinos and Kountouriotis. We also see the admiration of the British towards the Greek Navy, as well as the strengthening of the Greek fleet with new ships.
