Abstract
This thesis examines maritime tourism, a rapidly growing sector, alongside its associated risk management. It explores various activities such as cruises, yachting, and water sports, highlighting significant risks linked to passenger and crew safety as well as environmental protection. The key risk categories identified include environmental (e.g., sea pollution, ecosystem damage), technological (e.g., equipment maintenance), operational (e.g., accidents during activities), and social (e.g., safety from crime). The analysis emphasizes the importance of safety protocols and management strategies, including staff training, compliance with international regulations, regular maintenance, and advanced monitoring technologies. The Costa Concordia disaster is discussed as a critical example of risk management failure, underscoring the need for strict safety procedures and emergency readiness. Ultimately, the thesis concludes that effective risk management is essential for the success of maritime tourism, advocating for a focus on tourist safety and environmental protection to ensure sustainable development in the industry.
