Abstract
As a postgraduate student of the Program “Master of Arts in the Science of Translation” in the department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University, I had the opportunity to get an internship in a translation agency. The aim of this essay is to refer to the internship offered to me by a translation agency in the city of Thessaloniki and to describe this whole experience of mine. In the introduction some general information is given regarding the internship program. In addition, the description of the agency is presented and details are provided regarding the office environment and the working conditions. Furthermore, my participation in the translating process as an intern is discussed and the challenges I faced are analyzed. These challenges are related to the technological infrastructure, facilities and equipment of the office as well as the translation difficulties I dealt with. Additionally, I comment on the techniques I used in order to cope with the challenges and difficulties I came across. Moreover, a critical assessment and the conclusions drawn by this whole experience are stated. At the end of this essay, there is a summary of the ideas, views and opinions expressed in the paper.
