Abstract
This paper aims to approach the artistic creation inspired by the book as an everyday object and the management of these new artifacts by the information organization institutes, such as libraries and museums. The concepts of the book, the art, and the works of art in book form, i.e. artists’ books as it is the official term, are presented and analyzed through the historical background of this artistic genre and the theoretical discourse around them. Finally, their management by libraries, their storage, and their distribution and access to the public, is presented through case studies of four international institutions and their practices around this type of material. Brief conclusions are presented at the end of the paper.
