Abstract
The aim of the present Thesis is the completion of a Video Art and Bio Art project, as well as
the writing of a text concerning its theoretical documentation. The research part of the Thesis
begins with the theory and history of the two main bodies of the project, Video Art and Bio
Art, and continues by focusing on research in the field of Microbiology and the use of
microbes in Art. Then, the reasons and factors that make certain materials, which do not
belong to the world of Arts, acquire artistic status are explained and a historical review of the
movements in Art and the artists who used such materials is made. In the final segment of the
research part, the main lyrical theme of the work, which is the "touch", is examined.
Afterwards, scientific research and examples mention the importance of touch and its
influence on humanity, psychology, society, religion, and the arts. Finally, there is a detailed
description of the process and the completion of the artistic part of the thesis.
