Abstract
New technologies, which have infiltrated every field of human activity in modern times, have deservedly managed to gain a place in the wider museum space. Their application in museum institutions is found in many areas and the possibilities they offer are particularly important for the smooth operation of the museum, the achievement of its goals, attracting more visitors and meeting the requirements of the museum public.
Following with interest the international developments, the Greek museums could not remain unaffected. The new technological tools are soon adopted, albeit with a delay compared to what happened abroad, by the largest museums and cultural institutions in the country, while a little later there is a corresponding attempt to adapt to the new reality by the smaller regional museums. Their expectations are their modernization, the improvement of their services and the strengthening of their relationship with the community.
This paper examines the application of new technologies in museums of Corfu, one of the most touristic islands in Greece with a rich history and strong presence in the political, cultural, social and economic life of the Greek state since its inception. At the same time, an attempt is made to explore the perspectives that may exist for these museums and finally some conclusions are drawn on the subject.
