Abstract
The point of departure of the present study is the modern and rapidly evolving field of Positive Psychology, focusing on the phenomenon of migration and in particular on the vulnerable group of refugee children through music lesson. The research material is structured in two parts, theoretical and practical. The qualitative research method is used methodologically, taking into account all the parameters of the sample but also the variables that govern it such as place, time and age group. The material is collected from participant’s evaluation sheets, children’s drawings, a semi-structured interview of the participatory observer - critical friend, researcher’s field diary, weekly reflective participatory observer - critical friend interviews, and a focus group at the end of the implementation. The purpose of the research is to investigate the possibility of music to increase aspects of positive psychology, such as the subjective well-being of refugees by making it a tool for dealing with the difficulties of life. The field research took place from February 18 to April 15, 2022 in weekly meetings. The research was based on the voluntary and steady participation of children, while the age group was between 7-12 years old, origin being: Tunisia, Egypt, Pakistan. The results show that the circle of music can enhance experiences of flow, focusing on musical actions in the "here and now" with the ultimate goal of increasing mental resources and levels of hope. Finally, the presence of music in the study group of refugee children seems to work beneficially in shaping emotions, expression, relationships with others and expectations for the future.
