Abstract
The thesis examines the hotel industry of Corfu, an important tourist destination in Greece, with emphasis on human resource management (HRM) and its impact on employee well-being. Initially, theoretical approaches such as positive organizational behavior, resource maintenance theory and the Job Demand-Resources model are examined to understand job demands and resources. Then, the relationships between HRM, High Performance Work Systems (HPWS), job demands and employee well-being are analyzed.
The third chapter focuses on Corfu as a tourist destination and examines the concept of tourism and the importance of the hotel industry for the local economy. The current conditions and challenges facing the industry on the island are analysed. Chapter four describes the research methodology followed, including the methodology for data collection and analysis. In particular, the questionnaire used and the data collection process are presented.
Finally, chapter five contains the conclusions and recommendations based on the findings of the research, offering perspectives for improving working conditions and enhancing the well-being of employees in the hotel sector of Corfu, with emphasis on the implementation of human resource management practices.
