Abstract
This paper presents the translation of an excerpt from the book "Believing Women" in Islam: Unreading Patriarchal Interpretations of the Quran, written by Asma Barlas and published by the University of Texas Press in 2002. Throughout the book the author attempts to re-interpret the Quran in the context of modern times, oriented towards the removal of gender discrimination and revising the hermeneutic approaches of the past. It is therefore a translation of a specialized text from English into Greek and a commentary on the translation process is also included, which is structured in three sections: a) the analysis of the text, b) the difficulties encountered in the process and c) opinions on the author's work.
