Abstract
This paper studies the importance of the organization of digital libraries in
safekeeping of rare books and manuscripts. Through historical retrospection
of the book the evolution of its morphology is clarified, thus making it clear what
it is called a "rare book" and what a "manuscript". The course that her institution has erased
library over the centuries led to the creation of a new form of library,
that of digital. In a modern information environment and
technology, digital libraries are proving to be able to
ensure the "old" and the "traditional", ensuring their survival
of rare books and manuscripts in a changing and demanding era.
