Abstract
The following text is a comprehensive commentary to the main part of my PhD thesis, the later being the composition of a concerto for flute and orchestra. It is divided into four chapters. In the first, there is a description of the development that the concept of the flute concerto has undergone in the 20th and 21st centuries, and of the motives that contributed to this development. In the second chapter is presented my initial conception, the idea that led to the composition of my concerto for flute and orchestra. In the third chapter, my concerto is systematically analyzed movement by movement, alongside with a presentation of its general morphology. Finally, in the fourth chapter, the concept of composition and of the creation of a work of art in general is dealt with. It is also attempted a description of my personal musical language and parallelly of my own position and placement, both philosophically and aesthetically.
