Abstract
The current thesis deals with the catalogue of the Corfu Reading Society, recording the fields considered necessary by the institution for the cataloguing of library resources in the UNIMARC (UNIversal MAchine Readable Cataloguing) coding format, which is provided by the OpenABEKT service of the National Documentation Centre of Greece, using the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, Second edition (AACR2), as a description standard. Then, it documents the creation of a suitable Application Profile in which the appropriate elements are provided that match the fields used by the Corfu Reading Society, as well as the fields proposed for harmonising the catalogue according to the RDA (Resource Description and Access) Standard. Besides, it provides guidelines for the correct presentation and use of the data in accordance with the UNIMARC and RDA standards in the OpenΑBEKT environment. Finally, it presents findings of both the macrostructure and the microstructure based on the mapping carried out, but also based on the harmonisation of the OpenABEKT with the RDA.
