Abstract
This dissertation undertakes a comparative of the English, German and Greek language versions of the Directive 2011/95/EU of 13 December 2011, concerning standards for the qualification of third-country nationals or stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection, aiming to establish a uniform status for refugees or persons eligible for subsidiary protection. The study aims with a general introduction to multilingualism in the European Union, followed by the categories of EU texts, those with binding force and those without. Similarities and differences can be seen in terminology, syntax, grammar, clichés, punctuation, and the use of adverbs. Finally, the main findings of the comparison are summarised in the conclusions, where further research into renderings of each language version of the European texts is suggested.
