Abstract
In this biographical research, we follow the life course and work of the musician, composer and instrumentalist, Nikos Grapsas. Unfolding the educational and musical course chronologically, through three compositional periods, his personal compositional development, experiences and work are analyzed. Through the analysis of his musical work, and through the interviews, an attempt is made to clarify the concept of improvisation and composition, but also in what way they contribute to the imprinting of personal expression. Describing the musical experiences, creations and compositional work of Nikos Grapsas, the social and historical musical trends of the modern era in Greece of the '70s until today are reflected.
