Abstract
In the present dissertation an attempt is made to analyze and expand the position of games in Ancient Greece, which is developed through a historical review and presentation of various games of Greek antiquity.
With play and the child as the two main points of reference of this work, but also with their multifaceted examination, the search for their role in education and in the whole range of everyday life in Ancient Greece was approached.
The game and its value, as well as its various forms, are objects of study to this day for the impact it has on children in their later adult life. It is noteworthy that even the modern tendencies of pedagogy have their roots in ancient Greece.
The purpose of this paper is a thorough analysis of the vital importance of play in the overall development of the child, since it develops his sociability and smooth integration into the environment, as has been established in modern times, but always guided by the roots and the origins of ancient Greece.
