Abstract
Increasing attention is being paid to the field of neurodegenerative disorders, such as mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease, where information and communication technologies (ICT) are used to both support and improve the assessment of different functional and cognitive abilities and provide alternatives solutions for treatments, stimulation (stimulation of the body and its functions) and rehabilitation of patients. A rapidly growing field is that of Serious Games (SG), which are mental and/or physical games played on a computer according to specific rules, which use entertainment to promote education, training, health, of public policy and communication. Unlike other ICT-based tools such as computer-based tests or cognitive training, Serious Games incorporated the fun aspects of video games into the "serious" activity they perform by applying a pedagogical script to the game itself. The characteristic features of a Serious Game, such as the presence of a game challenge and long-term goals, have been proposed to make the Serious Games more adapted than classical computer-based training to maintain the generalizability of learning activities to real-life situations. For this reason, recommendations for the design of the Serious Games are beginning to emerge. However, recommendations for the use of Serious Games in these populations are still rare, for many and understandable reasons.
