Abstract
The thesis entitled "Interpreting emotionally charged discourse: Xavier Bettel addressing the European Parliament", examines the effect of emotionally charged discourse on the quality of interpretation in the speech delivered by the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, during the 70th anniversary of the European Parliament. Interpreting emotionally charged discourse is a complex process, which requires the coordination of multiple factors to achieve the rendering of the subtle aspects and the deeper meaning of the speaker in the target language. According to the analysis of Xavier Bettel's original speech, as well as its Greek and English rendition, this paper examines the hypothesis about whether interpreters convey the speaker's arguments with completeness and whether they use the same emotionally charged expressions.
