Abstract
This thesis aims to present the design and implementation of a specialized Information Literacy Program with emphasis on Music, appropriate to serve the specific needs of the Dept. of Music Studies (faculty and students). The author suggests the “Course-Integrated Instruction model” as the most appropriate for the integration of the Program into the Curriculum of the Music Department in general or the Direction of “Music Sciences” in particular. With respect to its context and frame this work focuses and tries to prove:1.The study, research and establishment of certain presuppositions which are essential to the full incorporation and integration of the Program (Case Study).2.Which set of the most appropriate and effective methods can be used for the implementation and establishment of a well compliant with the targets, goals and mission of the Dept. Of Music Studies, Program. 3.The ways that the Program can contribute to the making of information-literate students. 4.The special and distinct features, needs and behavior of the population constituting the Dept. of Music Studies society. 5.The essence of studying, evaluating and using certain information tools, traditional or /and not, closely related to music. 6.The importance of a systematic and consistent collection of data strictly regarding the evaluation of the Program.7.The importance of a systematic and consistent collection, regarding and contributing to an objective and complete evaluation of the music librarian as educator-instructor.8.The essence of consistent and standardized knowledge and skills in regard with: a. Music librarianship, the discipline, the profession and its particular demands. b. The available ways of organizing and representing music knowledge and music information. c. The essence of standardization of qualifications and skills, formal and informal (substantial), which music librarians should obtain or/and possess in order to undertake the role of the educator-teacher-consultant-instructor and play a unique role all the way through to the educational process.
