Abstract
The present thesis is a work on Giorgio Vasari’s life and his artistic work, on his ideas and his contribution to Renaissance. Vasari is one of the most important artists/writers of the Renaissance period in Italy and he was one of the first people I started studying. The thesis holds information on his life, how he made his way into the Medici court and how he was associated with other patrons. A big part of this thesis is dedicated to his artistic side and work, his ideals and ideas, his influences and his work as an artist and architect. The main focus of this thesis rests on his major work, Le Vite; how he begun to write it, the ideals behind it and its interpretations.
